Risks

Explosive atmospheres: Biogas can form an explosive mixture with air, especially when combined with carbon dioxide. This can occur due to gas leaks, welding, or clogged pipes.

Fire and explosion: The presence of combustible gases in the air can create an explosive atmosphere, leading to fire and explosion risks.

Asphyxiation: Biogas can accumulate in confined spaces, reducing oxygen levels and leading to asphyxiation symptoms, which can be fatal.

Corrosion and breakdown: High concentrations of H2S and other toxic gases can corrode pipes and tanks, leading to breakdowns of the biogas engine.

Human injury: Direct contact with on-site hazards such as wastes, machinery, and vehicles can cause injury to humans or livestock.
